The estate of this House on a Hill in a Park Setting on a Peninsula in East Tennessee is subject of a profound and timeless reinterpretation of a well placed, structured, and proportioned 1959 ranch style house. A while back a garage studio and myrtle orchard initiated working towards achieving a Gesamtkunstwerk for this East Tennessee estate. Now work has started on courtyards, terraces, pools, walls, and stairs, extending their composed juxtaposition of geometrical artifacts into the lush nature of a park-like setting. Majestic oak and cedar trees, accentuated in gravel beds, horizontal and vertical slabs enhance found plain qualities, elevating them to a serene artistic ensemble. Concept models help explore complementary qualities of spaces engaging with gardens and estate. Since ample space and time are the last luxuries of this era to be gained, proportions and light are being carefully explored with physical models in situ. Ultimately this comprehensive implementation is supposed to be an ensemble, seamless in its serene simplicity, and impossible to denote old from new.
